CW3 Christopher M. Allgaier
ARMY

Chris Allgaier was born in Omaha, NE on July 25, 1973 to parents Bob and Sally Allgaier. He had an older brother, Rob, and a younger sister, Sharon.
Chris attended St. Robert’s School, Creighton Prep, and St. Louis University where he excelled academically. He graduated with degrees in Aviation Science and Airport Administration.
After college, Chris enlisted in the Army and was assigned to flight school at Fort Rucker, AL where he learned to fly the CH-47 Chinook helicopter. We later learned from his classmates that he graduated at the top of the class, something Chris was too modest to share with us himself!
Chris was stationed for several years at Schofield Barracks on the Hawaiian island of Oahu (where he complained that the avocado tree near his house was so bounteous that he often had an overabundance of fruit all over the yard to clean up!).

He was transferred to Fort Bragg near Fayetteville, NC where he settled and eventually built a house for his family.

It was around this time that he became a Warrant Officer, ultimately attaining the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 3.

During his time at Fort Bragg, Chris was deployed to Seoul, South Korea for a year and had three combat deployments: twice in Afghanistan and once in Iraq.

His second tour in Afghanistan would be his last. On May 30, 2007 (no, the irony of the day is not lost on us), he was flying a NATO combat night mission in the extremely dangerous Helmand Province. His Chinook had just dropped off approximately 30 troops in a combat zone when it was attacked by the Taliban. In a bitter twist of irony, we later learned that it was a US-made Stinger missile that destroyed the helicopter killing Chris and four other coalition soldiers. (The weapon was a leftover from the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan when the U.S. government supplied the mujahideen with Stingers to attack Soviet helicopters.)

Chris is interred at Arlington National Cemetery in Section 60. He is survived by his father, sister, brother, wife, and three daughters.

Chris loved his Lord, Jesus Christ, his family and his country. He enjoyed watching professional football (especially the Chargers) and baseball (the Giants), music, attending concerts, and onions (on almost any food!). He was a loving son, brother, father and friend.

We miss you, Chris, and we look forward to uniting with you once again in our heavenly homeland!
